Peavey, Case preps for Meridian-Seminole test
MERIDIAN – For Shelby Case and Shelby Peavey this weekend will be the biggest softball games either has played in.
The two ‘Shelby” girls are Brookhaven natives, and freshmen members of the Region 23, Division I champion Meridian Community College Lady Eagles squad will play against Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma Friday and Saturday for the rights to go the NJCAA National Championship in Utah next week.
Erica Bridwell, a Brookhaven native, is also on the softball team as the team’s manager
Case and Peavey leave for Oklahoma today and will play Seminole State College at 4 on Friday in a three game series.
This is Meridian’s first post season bid since 2005, and Case and Peavey have helped the Lady Eagles during a long season.
Case plays outfield on the team, while Peavey is the squad’s utility player. She has played second base, third base, and outfield this season.
Against Baton Rouge CC for the Region Championship, Peavey had a double and a single in a 9-0 win over BRCC to claim the title.
Both Case and Peavey prepped at Brookhaven High, each signed with Meridian CC last Spring.
