C.A. ‘Charlie’ Martin

Funeral services for C.A. “Charlie” Martin are 1 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday, May 26, 2014, from 11 a.m. until time of service at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

On May 24, 2014, C.A. “Charlie” Martin left his earthly home for his heavenly home.

He was born to J.P “Bud” and Bertha Hamilton Martin on July 12, 1923, in the Sandhill community of Wesson, served in France as a medic with the U.S. Army during World War II and then attended Co-Lin and Mississippi State University. He worked throughout the United States with major oil and gas pipeline companies as a right of way and claims agent. He and his wife of 62 years, Johnnye Merle Ferguson Martin, retired to Wesson. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Proceeding him in death were his wife; his parents; brothers, Ray Martin, J.P. “Pete” Martin, John Roy Martin, Prentiss “Buddy Boy” Martin; and his sister, Annie Laura Tucker.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Lucille Keys of Wesson; his sons, Ronnie Martin and wife, Glenda, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ray Martin and wife, Sheila, of Vilonia, Arkansas; daughter, Linda “Lynn” Martin Holloway of Wesson; as well as his grandchildren, Raegan, Jill, Louis, Kelly and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Rebeka, Abigail, Cheyenne and Damien. Many nieces, nephews and friends will remember his sense of humor, quick wit and willingness to supervise you doing anything.

The family expressed heartfelt appreciation for the medical and emotional support given to our Dad by our caring family at Haven Hall, Dr. Baxter Irby and staff, Dr. Jeffrey Boyd and staff and the caring staff at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
