The Lincoln County American All-Stars were victorious in their opening debut Friday night as they hammered the Pine Hill All-Stars 9-1 in the first round of the Dixie Youth 12-year-old District Tournament at Keystone Park.

In other tournament action, the Franklin County All-Stars crushed the Copiah County All-Stars 12-2, and the Natchez All-Stars knocked off the Walthall County All-Stars 4-2.

Tournament action continued Saturday with three games as the Lincoln Americans battled McComb at 4 p.m. Copiah versus Walthall was scheduled at 6 p.m. and Franklin County took on Natchez. The results were not available at press time.

The 12-year-old action continues Monday with three games scheduled, starting at 4 p.m. The tournament will conclude Thursday with the championship contest.

Lincoln Co. 9, Pine Hill 1 

The Lincoln County Americans enjoyed a great Fourth of July as they came out ready to play. In the first inning, the Americans took control of the contest as they quickly grabbed a 3-0 lead.

The Pine Hill All-Stars managed to get on the scoreboard in the second inning as they pushed across their only run in the contest.

Lincoln County closed the door on Pine Hill for the rest of the game and outscored the Pine Hill All-Stars 6-0 in the last four innings.

Trey Fortenberry was the winning pitcher for the Americans with seven strikeouts. He allowed only one walk.

DiMario Weathersby suffered the loss for Pine Hill with two strikeouts and four walks.

Grant Jackson provided the offensive spark to lead the Americans with a double and a single. Cade Brown ripped a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Travis Hall, Garrett Maxwell, Barrion Robinson and Cole Smith.

Colton Womack and Patrick Day were the offensive leaders for the Pine Hill All-Stars with a single each.

Franklin Co. 12, Copiah Co. 2
