Funeral Services for Kathryn Hoggatt Ratcliff of Laurel are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Magnolia Baptist Church in Laurel with burial in the Lake Park Hills Cemetery. The Rev. P.J. Weeks will be officiating. Memory Chapel in Laural is in charge of arrangements. Her body will be place in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Visitation was Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ratcliff, 77, died Aug. 1, 2014, at South Central Regional Medical Center.

A native of Brookhaven, she was born March 1937, to Robert Solon and Myrtle Evie Hoggatt. After an eight-year courtship, she married her Brookhaven High School sweetheart, Wilroy Ratcliff, on Sept. 21, 1957. They moved to Laurel on Jan. 1, 1960.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ratcliff earned her registered nursing degree at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church where she was active in numerous areas including WMU, teaching Sunday school, the kitchen and hospitality committee and Bible drills.

Ratcliff was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Fred, Gerald, Asa and Robert Hoggatt, all of Brookhaven.

Ratcliff is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Wilroy Ratcliff of Laurel, daughter Rebecca Patrick and husband, Howard, of Ellisville; sons Wilroy Ratcliff II and wife, Leshia, of Mobile, Alabama, and Bruce Ratcliff and wife, Belinda, of Columbia; grandchildren Wil and Wes Ratcliff, of Mobile, Alabama, Rease Patrick of Ellisville and Meredith and Mallory Ratcliff of Columbia; brother-in-law Scott Ratcliff and wife, Judy, of Petal; sisters-in-law Virginia Ivy, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Betty Foster and Helen Hoggatt, both of Brookhaven; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her grandsons Wil and Wes Ratcliff and Rease Patrick, brother-in-law Scott Ratcliff, Stacy Breedlove and Lonnie Hicks.

Memorials in Mrs. Ratcliff’s honor may be made to the Magnolia Baptist Church Building Fund or the Ratcliff Family Scholarship Endowment at Jones County Junior College.
