A Silver Creek woman died in a two-vehicle car crash Thursday morning around 11:30 a.m. in Lawrence County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M released that Mary L. Cooper, 59, was parked in the right lane of US 84 West Bound. Zachary Savoie, 23 was traveling west on US Highway 84 when he made contact with the rear of Cooper’s parked vehicle. The two vehicles were forced in to the median.

Cooper was transported to the Lawrence County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:23 p.m. Savoie was transported to Forrest General Hospital with moderate injuries and has since been discharged.

The incident is still under investigation.
