Funeral Services for Lydia Faye Johnson Rowells of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Easthaven Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation was Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services.
Mrs. Rowells, 78, died Aug. 15, 2014. She was born on June 6, 1936, in Lincoln County to Eva Ernestine Boyte and James Melton Johnson.
She was employed at Hartley Goves’ Sons for 35 years. In her off hours she was an elderly caregiver. She was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church since 1985, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.
She was a graduate of Ruth High School where she graduated with honors and was salutatorian of her class. She also excelled in sports, playing basketball, baseball and track. She was a member of the FHA where she was a secretary of the State Chapter of FHA and secretary of her senior class.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her grandparents, Allen Walter and Etta Jane Martin Boyte and Edward and Evie Hemphill Johnson.
Survivors are her daughter, Cynthia Renee Jackson and husband, Gary Wayne Jackson; her sons, Jerry Dwayne Rowells and Gregory Allen Rowells; six grandchildren, Misty Anne Wallace Troulliet and husband, Eddie, of Brookhaven, Benjamin Jay Rowells, Nikki Michelle Rowells of Brookhaven, Rachel Anne Buffinton, John Gregory Rowells and Russell Andrew Rowells of Silver Creek; one great-grandchild, Dakota Troulliet; two sisters, Norma Griffith and Joyce James of Brookhaven; a brother, Gerald Don Johnson of Brookhaven; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
