Funeral Services for Mary Alice Weatherly of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mrs. Weatherly, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at her residence. She was born on July 7, 1921, in Hickory Flat to James and Rosa Mae Eddings.

Mrs. Weatherly was a diligent health care provider for many years, both in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and more recently in Brookhaven. She took special joy in flower and vegetable gardening and was also an avid reader. She was very devoted to church and her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James Weatherly; and ten siblings.

Survivors are her daughters; Joyce VanDorin of Brookhaven, Bobby Jackson and husband, James, of Oxford, Georgia, Marie Delatte of Brookhaven, and Mary Jane Barksdale and husband, Troy, of St. Francisville, Louisiana; her brothers, Edward Eddings of Oakhurst, California and Thomas Eddings of Arkansas; her sister, Leathie Houston of Hernando; her grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Barksdale of Baton Rouge, Tracy Jackson of Robbins, North Carolina, Michelle Hull of Livingston, Louisiana, James Jackson Jr. of Alpharetta, Georgia, Julie Landry of Paincourtville, Louisiana, Krista Smith of Flowood, and Michael VanDorin of Bogue Chitto; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
