The Central Hinds Lady Cougars defeated the Brookhaven Lady Cougars 9-1 in a big division contest.

“When you make seven errors against a good team and only get two hits, you will come up short every time,” said Flowers. “This lost will put our back against the wall in district play, but we will return to work to see if we can pull ourselves back into the hunt.”

The BA Lady Cougars (10-13, 2-2) will resume action this Saturday as they host the Co-Lin MAIS softball tournament at Hansel King Complex.

BA will start the festivity of games with junior varsity action at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The Lady Cougars’ varsity squad will be action at 1:30 p.m. against Copiah Academy, 4:30 vs. Columbia Academy and 6 p.m. vs. Jackson Prep.

Alex Rae Smith absorbed the setback for BA with no strikeouts and no walks. Olivia Lofton (1K, 2BB) also saw some action on the mound in relief.

Olivia Thornton was the offensive leader at the plate for Brookhaven Academy with a double. Kailyn Jordan hit a single.
