WESSON – The No.11 Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack close out the non-division portion of their schedule on Thursday in Wesson as they host the Mississippi Delta Trojans for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Stone Stadium. The Wolves dropped eight spots in the new NJCAA Top 20 poll, from No. 3 to No. 11, after suffering a 46-10 loss last week at No. 1 East Mississippi.

The Wolfpack (1-1) could never gain momentum in their loss to the Lions. Co-Lin went three and out on their first offensive possession and then had a 16-yard punt that put East Mississippi on a short field. The Lions turned that into a touchdown and scored another early TD after Co-Lin dropped a punt. Co-Lin managed only 37 yards rushing and scored their only touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Daniel Fitzwater to Donald Gray in the first quarter. Demond Tucker, Justin Morgan, and Deion Pope all posted eight tackles apiece to lead the Co-Lin defense. Freshman kicker Greg Nickles kicked a 30-yard field goal for Co-Lin

The Mississippi Delta Trojans (1-0) are coming off of an odd week in which they didn’t win or lose a game. The Trojans saw their game at Southwest ruled a no-contest after a lightning delay kept the game from being finished. The Trojans trailed the Bears, 14-0, when the delay began. In their season opener the Trojans defeated East Central, 21-12. Delta is led by second year head coach Jeff Tatum. Co-Lin fans will remember Tatum previously coached at Garden City (Kan.) C.C. and was the head coach in a 31-29 Garden City victory over Co-Lin in the 2012 Mississippi Bowl. The quarterback for Tatum in that game was current Auburn star Nick Marshall.
