BA Lady Cougars fall twice in District action

RAYMOND – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars suffered two straight defeats in District 2AA MAIS softball action Monday and Tuesday night.
In Tuesday night action, Central Hinds crushed the Lady Cougars 11-2 in Raymond. In the Monday night contest, ACCS Lady Bears blanked the Lady Cougars 12-0.
The BA Lady Cougars (13-17, 4-4) will return to action Saturday as they enter the MAIS South State playoffs in Liberty. The Amite School Center will host the tournament. The South State AA tournament schedule was not complete by press time.
Central Hinds 11, BA 2
The Central Hinds Lady Cougars’ offense came alive in the third, fourth and fifth innings to overpower BA with a 10-0 run to secure the win.
Mallory Robinson tossed the win for Central Hinds with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Olivia Lofton suffered the setback for BA with no strikeouts and five walks.
Lofton was the offensive leader at the plate for BA with a double and a single. Morgan Walker contributed two singles. Amanda Rushing ripped a double. Hitting safely were K.K. Jordan and Olivia Thornton.
Tessie Marable paced Central Hinds offense with a double and a single. Madison Frazier had two singles. Taylor Lay, Tori Traxler, Kendall Lowery and Kayla Kellum hit safely.
In JV action, BA won 6-4 over Central Hinds.
Madi Smith (1K, 1BB) and Anna Grace Covington (0K, 5BB) pitched the win for BA.
Covington directed the Lincoln-based Lady Cougars offense with two singles. Hitting safely were Abeni Fuller, Madi Smith and Cameron Watson.
ACCS 12, BA 0
Brooke Runnels tossed the win for ACCS with no strikeouts and one walk.
Lofton absorbed the setback on the mound for BA with no strikeouts and three walks. Alex Rae Smith (1K, 3BB) also saw some action in relief.
Thornton was the top hitter for the Lady Cougars with a double. Rushing hit a single.
Jordan Petty directed the Lady Rebels offense with a double and a single. Ashleigh Williams ripped a double. Brianna Henson and Brooke Allen hit safely.
In JV action, ACCS edged BA 7-6.

Fuller paced the Lady Cougars with three singles. Cameron Watson and Madi Smith provided a double and a single each. Covington had a double.
