West Lincoln extinguishes Pisgah

SANDHILL – The undefeated West Lincoln Lady Bears survived a tough defensive battle to extinguish Pisgah Lady Dragons 5-2 Thursday night in Region 7-2A softball action.

“We left too many runners on base,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “We started off slow and were not ready to play tonight.”

The Lady Bears (17-0, 5-0) return to action Saturday when they participat in the Ole Brook softball tournament. West Lincoln plays Warren Central at 9 a.m. and Florence at 11:40 a.m..

West Lincoln 5, Pisgah 2 

West Lincoln had to rely on the their strong defense to stay in the contest until their offense managed to get things going in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-all.

In the sixth and seventh innings, the Lady Bears scored three runs to secure a 5-2 victory.

Makennah Redd was the winning pitcher with no strikeouts and two walks.

Kelsey Chambly took the loss for Pisgah with two strikeouts and one walk.

Millane Lewis powered the Lady Bears offense home run. Hanna Moak contributed two doubles and a single. MaKennah Redd provided a double and a single. Malori Hall had two singles. Hitting safely were: Micah Redd, Alli Mullins, Layton Sills, Brianna Fauver and Peyton White.

Faith Ashley, Sky Watson, Erin Barnes, Stacy Cole and Kelsie Chambly were the top hitters for the Lady Dragons with a single each.

In JV action, West Lincoln lost 8-5 to Pisgah.

Ashley Thomas paced the Lady Bears at the plate with a double and a single. Sara Jane Doty, Skylar Hall and Megan Gerald hit safely.
