PELAHATCHIE – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars’ (2-3, 1-1) high-flying offense was grounded Friday night in Pelahatchie as the script was flipped.

BA allowed 346 yards rushing in a 35-0 loss to the East Rankin Academy Patriot in MAIS football.

The Patriots’ pass-rush defense caused havoc for senior quarterback Heath Hickman at the line of scrimmage all night. Hickman was only able to complete 10 of 24 passes for 139 yards. Typically a threat in the running game, Hickman was held to negative 4-yards rushing. Leading receiver William King caught five passes for 85 yards.

Senior tailback Connor Dorman was bottled up all night as well, averaging 3.4 yards per rush and totaling 31 yards on nine carries. The Cougars were held to 167 yards of total offense and eight first downs. The Cougars also coughed up two fumbles.

Senior defensive lineman Garrett Pace tallied 11.5 tackles, and senior linebacker Michael Fiorella had a season high 11 tackles.

The BA Cougars travel to Simpson county next Friday to face Simpson Academy before returning home the following Friday to face Silliman.
