Wesson falls in Ole Brook’s Tournament

The Wesson Lady Cobras did not have a great day in Saturday’s Ole Brook’s softball tournament at Hansel King Sportsplex.
The Lady Cobras fell to Brookhaven 16-6 in the opener, lost to Lawrence County 10-4 and lost against Bogue Chitto 15-3.
The Lady Cobras will be looking to climb out of this losing skid as they prepare to host the West Lincoln Bears Monday. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Brookhaven 16, Wesson 6
Wesson was led offensively by Kayla Britt (RBI-3), Kaitlyn Smith (RBI-2) and Harmoni Ashley, who all hit homeruns. Ashley also hit a single. In fielding, Britt had four outs with three assists, and Ashley had five outs at first base.
Danielle Batteast (RBI-2), who had three singles and a homerun, Katherine Shell (RBI-4), who had a grand slam and a single, and Jada Henderson, who had two singles and a double, powered the Lady Panthers.
Lawrence Co. 10, Wesson 4
Kayla Britt paced the Lady Cobras with a homerun and a single. Cheyenne Gladden (RBI-2) hit a single and a double. Harmoni Ashley had two singles. In fielding, Ashley had five outs at first base.
Lawrence County was directed by Jamie Martin (RBI-3), who had two singles and a homerun, Cheyenne Long (RBI-3), who had three singles, Barri Rogers (RBI-2), who had a single and a homerun, Alexsundria Thomas (RBI-3) and Callie Fortenberry (RBI-2), who had a single and a double. In fielding, Thomas had two outs and three assists.
Bogue Chitto 15, Wesson 3
Kayla Britt again directed the Lady Cobras offense with a single and a double. Harmoni Ashley (RBI-2) had 2 singles. In fielding, Britt had 4 outs at shortstop.
Bogue Chitto was led by Colby Kirkland (RBI-4), who had a single and a homerun, Brooke Myers (RBI-1), who had a single and a double, and Christian Black (RBI-2), who had two singles.
