BC collects a sweep

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats secured a sweep in their slowpitch softball tournament Saturday.

The Lady Cats defeated the Wesson Lady Cobras 7-3 in the opener, shut out the Amite County Lady Trojans 8-0 in the second game and destroyed the Franklin Co. Lady Bulldogs 13-0 in the finale.

“This was a beautiful day to play ball,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “The tournament was a success, and I like to thank all the fans for coming out to give their supports. My girls did a great job hitting the ball and playing defense. I was very proud of their effort.”

Bogue Chitto (17-8, 4-0) resumes action Tuesday as they host the Puckett Lady Wolves. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 7, Wesson 3 

Brooke Myers (0K, 2BB) pitched the win for BC. Riley Smith (1K, 1BB) suffered the setback for the Lady Cobras.

Christian Black powered the Lady Cats with a home run and a single. Mallory Allen provided a double and a single. Myers had two singles. Cherie Savoie ripped a double. Hitting safely was Terrah Nelson, Alana Nettles and Zariah Matthews.

Kayla Britt directed Wesson’s offense with a double and two singles. Kaitlyn Smith contributed three singles. Riley had two singles. Brooke Jones and Aurianna Vaughn hit safely.

Bogue Chitto 8, Amite Co. 0 

Myers was the winning pitcher in Game Two for the Lady Cats with six strikeouts and no walks.

Nelson sparked the BC’s offense with a triple and a single. Savoie provided two singles. Colby Kirkland had a double. Hitting safely was Reagan Kirkland, Baileigh Jackson, Black, Allen and Myers.

Bogue Chitto 13, Franklin Co. 0 

Myers pitched a perfect trifecta Saturday collecting the third win on the mound for BC with no strikeouts and no walks.

Colby Kirkland directed the Lady Cats charge at the plate with a home run and a single. Black belted a double and two singles. Nettles provided a triple and a single. Mathews and Savoie hit a pair of singles. Karly Leake, Regan Kirkland, Allen and Myers hit safely.

Nuda Starks was the top hitter for the Lady Bulldogs with a double. Sierra Bethany and Emily Wallace hit a single apiece.
