LC Lady Cougars win three in BC tournament

BOGUE CHITTO – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars captured three victories in Bogue Chitto’s softball tournament Saturday.
The Lady Cougars knocked off the West Lincoln Lady Bears 12-8 in the first game, blanked the Wesson Lady Cobras 11-0 in the second game and crushed the Amite County Lady Trojans 19-1 in the finale.
“I am very proud of the way we are hitting the ball as a team,” said LCHS coach Meleah Howard. “We are playing are best ball right now. I hope it will continue on for the next few weeks.”
Lawrence County (19-4, 3-1) returns to action Tuesday as they prepare to welcome the West Lincoln Lady Bears to Monticello. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

Barri Rogers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cougars with no strikeouts and two walks.
Makennah Redd suffered the setback for the Lady Bears with no strikeouts and six walks.
Callie Fortenberry powered the Lady Cougars offense with four singles. Madison Hyde contributed three singles. Tiera Collins provided a home run and a single. Maddux Kirkland ripped a double and a single. Cheyenne Long and Lexie Jordan had a pair of singles. Hitting safely was Alexsundria Thomas and Barri Rogers.
Makennah Redd, and Brianna Fauver were the top hitters at the plate for West Lincoln with two singles apiece. Hanna Moak, Micah Redd, Millane Lewis, Layton Sills and Anna Davis hit safely.

Jamie Martin sparked LCHS offense with two home runs and a single. Collins fueled the flames with a home run and two singles. Kirkland and Johnson provided a pair of singles each. Thomas had a double. Long and Fortenberry hit a single each.
Amber Brinson led the Lady Cobras at the plate with two singles. Hitting safely were Kayla Britt, Harmoni Ashley, Aurianna Vaughn, Brooke Jones and Catherine Wilson.

Collins paced the Lady Cougars offense with a home run and two singles. Fortenberry and Long provide two singles each. Hype contributed a triple. Thomas and Martin ripped a double apiece. Hitting safely was Johnson.
