Lady Panthers capture Region crown

DAILY LEADER / MARTY ALBRIGHT / Brookhaven’s Jada Henderson powered the Lady Panthers to their second straight division crown Tuesday night after hitting two home runs against Murrah at the Lady Panther Softball Complex.

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers clobbered the Murrah Lady Mustangs 15-0 to finish their race in Region 6A/5A action undefeated and claimed their second straight division crown in slowpitch softball Tuesday night.

The Lady Panthers (15-10, 10-0) has two more regular season games left, before starting their playoff march Tuesday. Brookhaven will host the Lawrence County Lady Cougars Thursday. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

The Lady Panthers quickly took care of business Tuesday as they conducted an hitting clinic against the Lady Mustangs as Brookhaven blast Murrah 8-0 in the first inning.

Ole Brook continued their offensive onslaught in the second inning with a seven-run jolt to secure a 15-0 victory in three innings of action.

Rileigh Allen was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers with three strikeouts and three walks.

Jada Henderson powered Ole Brook’s offensive attack with two home runs. Julianna Porter continued the onslaught with a home run and a single. Katherine Shell also hit a home run. Kyla Henderson and Chantel Quarles provided a double each. Haley Speaks ripped a pair of singles. Hitting safely was Brooks Fallon and Tia Bussey.
