Silliman stomps BA Cougars
The Silliman Wildcats concluded their business trip to Brookhaven Friday night with a smothering defensive effort to shutout the Brookhaven Academy Cougars 35-0 in MAIS football action.
The Cougars offense, which has been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks, could only muster 65 total yards and four first downs in the loss.
Wildcats quarterback Keon Brown was held in check in the first quarter, but he eventually found the creases in the Cougars defense and exploited it for 384 yards of total offense.
The BA Cougars found themselves down 15-0 at halftime, but in the second half the Wildcats continued to gash the Cougars defense with their ground attack for a total of 276 rushing yards.
Offensively, Connor Dorman powered the BA Cougars with 39 yards rushing on 15 carries and caught six passes for 15 yards. Heath Hickman completed 10-of-17 passes for 28 yards
Senior defensive lineman Garrett Pace did all he could by racking up another double-digit performance in tackles for the eighth straight week. Pace had a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry in his 12 tackle heroics, which include three tackles for a loss with a sack.
The Cougars had four tackles for loss from senior Michael Fiorella and juniors Williams King, J.T. Cline and Carter Culbertson. Senior Trent Nettles added seven tackles.
BA (3-5, 1-1) will be in action next Friday as they prepare to entertain the Copiah Academy Colonels on R.M. “Red” Stuard Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
