Bassfield routs Jackets

The defending 2A state champions Bassfield Yellowjackets flexed their muscles and thumped the Enterprise Yellow Jackets 53-14 last Friday night in Region 7-2A football action.
“Bassfield has a very impressive football team,” said Enterprise coach Brooks Burns. “Our guys knew coming in that Bassfield has a very good team, but we continued to play hard and finished strong. Overall, I was pleased with my guys’ effort. They did not quit. Now, we have a week off to start preparing for our Lincoln County rivals.”
Austin Colman got his Lincoln County-based Jackets on the scoreboard in the second quarter on a five-yard rushing touchdown.
Zach Hodges punched in Enterprise’s second touchdown in the third quarter on a four-yard run. Brant White caught a pass for the two-point conversion.
Junior full back Braxton Thompson was the offensive leader for Enterprise with 58 yards rushing on 10 carries. Tanner Waldrop contributed 7 rushes for 52 yards. Chance Lacking provided 36 yards on 4 carries.
Zach Hodges completed 2-of-6 passes for 13 yards and an interception. Cade Cangemi was the top receiver with one catch for 10 yards. Brant White had one catch for three yards.
Defensively, Devin Kirtfield directed Enteprise’s charge with four tackles.
Enterprise (0-8, 0-3) will be off this Friday to nurse their injured players. The Jackets will resume action next Friday as they visit Perry Miller Field to take on the West Lincoln Bears for a big region contest. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
