Funeral Services for Willie “Jean” Chipman of Brookhaven are 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer with burial in Easthaven Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, from 3 until 6 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services. She will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Chipman, 86, died Oct. 26, 2014, in Brookhaven. She was born on June 13, 1928, in Mount Olive to Martin and Tommie Denman.

Mrs. Chipman grew up in Mount Olive, graduated from Indianola High School and moved to Brookhaven in 1952. A devoted mother and wife, Jean loved to travel, loved people and loved to help others. She was active in local civic clubs and organizations throughout her life. She was a former regent and 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; former president and charter member of the Alpha Lions Club of Brookhaven receiving the Lion’s Melvin Jones Fellowship; member of the Brookhaven Lioness Club; member of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Brookhaven Civitan Club, member of the Colonial Dames, member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Greenbrook Garden Club. She had a deep faith in God and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven where she was a member of the ECW and the alter guild. Mrs. Chipman touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, E.L. Chipman; and her grandson, Chris Gatti.

Survivors are her children, Jeff Donald and wife, Marilyn Leah, of Starkville, and Mary Patricia Donald, of Brookhaven; her brother, Tommy Denman and wife, Carol, of Kingwood, Texas; three step-children with her late husband, Molly White, Linda Scull and Lee Chipman; three grandsons, Patrick Donald and Ryan and wife, Angie, Donald, of Starkville, and Brian Gatti and wife, Leeann, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two great grandchildren.
