Trojans exterminate Enterprise Jackets

The Amite County Trojans visit Lincoln County and quickly overpowered the young Enterprise Yellow Jackets with a 66-6 trouncing in the last regular season contest at Harry Cole Field Friday night.

“Overall, I am extremely proud of my guys effort,” said Enterprise coach Brooks Burns. “We knew coming into the season that we were going to be very young, but the kids did not quit. They kept fighting everyday in practices and games to get better and I am truly proud of them.”

Enterprise’s faithful fans gathered to show their support for their young football team and watch their seniors play the final high school football game of their careers.

In the first quarter, Amite County came out and quickly set the tone of the game as they punched in 2 touchdown drives on runs of 50 and 8 yards by Darrion Robinson and Edward Ross in two minutes of action.

The Trojans cashed in on two two-point-conversion rushing attempts by Lantravious Franklin and Elijah Martin to give Amite County a 16-0 advantage after one quarter of action.

In the second quarter, the Trojans continued to overpowered the Jacket with their speed and depth as they scored 28 answered points to secured 44-0 lead at halftime.

Sophomore quarterback Treavarious Clark threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter as he connected with D’Kenyace Roberts for a 4-yard TD, D’Quarious Butler for a 46-yard TD and Dexavier Grimble for a 31-yard touchdown.

Ross rushed in his second touchdown of the night with a 26-yard sprint. Amite County punched in two of four two-points attempts as Keontae Hughes and Clark ran in both.

In the second half, the Trojans came back out and refused to slowdown their offensive onslaught as they continued to add points to the scoreboard against Enterprise.

Amite County scored only one touchdown in the third quarter. Franklin used his blazing speed to outrun the Jackets to score a 89-yard touchdown with 4:55 remaining.

In the final quarter of action, the Jackets managed to break up Amite County’s bid of a shut out with 8:29 remaining as sophomore quarterback Zach Hodges broke free from the Trojan’s defense to scramble in a 12-yard touchdown run. Enterprise elected to go for the two-point conversion but failed to cash it in on a pass play.

The Trojans came out mad after Enteprise’s touchdown and added two more touchdowns to push their lead to 66-6 in the final minutes of action.

Bobby Woodard would score on a 45-yard run, and Lavary Anderson added the two-point conversion.

The Trojans final touchdown came with 1:21 left as Roberts caught a TD pass of 7 yards from Clark. Butler tacked on the two-point conversion.

Offensively, Tanner Waldrop directed Enterprise’s ground attack with 26 yards on five carries. Hodges rushed seven times for 24 yards.

Hodges completed two-of-five passes for 35 yards. Cade Cangemi caught one pass for 35 yards.

Defensively, Austin Coleman powered the Jackets with 15 tackles. Devon Kirtfield contributed 13 tackles. Drake Allen provided seven stops. Cangemi added six tackles and Jeffery Daniels had five tackles.

The Jackets conclude their season with a 0-10 record, while posting a 0-5 record in Region 7-2A action.
