ACKERMAN- The Wesson Cobras traveled north on Highway 25 to face the Choctaw County Chargers Friday night for the first round of the Class 3A playoff game. The Chargers ended up eliminating the Cobras from competition with a final score of 47-19.

“Our guys played well early in the game,” said Cobra coach Ronald Greer. “We had a hard time containing their quarterback who is a gifted athlete. I’m proud of our guys for making it to the postseason, but disappointed that we will not be moving on.”

The Chargers took charge early in the game by scoring on the first possession of the night when Tyler Riley rushed 57 yards to the end zone. Kicker David Ramirez made the extra point putting 7 points on the scoreboard for Choctaw County.

Wesson battled back by working the ball down the field with 4 first downs, which resulted in quarterback Tyler Christmas running the ball in for the touchdown and a successful extra point by Tre Fleming.

Choctaw County came back and retaliated with another touchdown by Jamarcus Bradley. Wesson answered with a quick score to make it even when Farrod Green returned a kickoff 80 yards for the touchdown, but the extra point fell short putting the Chargers ahead by one point.

Choctaw County worked the ball down the field and Anquan Smith scored. The Cobras fumbled on the next play and Jamarcus Bradley scored on the next possession upping the score to 34-13 at halftime.
