Enterprise ready to begin season

The Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets of Enterprise are eager to show off their young players as they start the 2014-15-basketball season

Enterprise started their season yesterday as they host a Classic tournament that began at 1 p.m.

The Jackets and Lady Jackets will resume action Tuesday as they welcome the Stringer Red Devils to Lincoln County for three games. The junior varsity action will tip the action off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Lady Jackets bring leadership and depth 

Enterprise girls coach Jill Nations expects to have a successful year with a young team. Nations will have to rely on four seniors: Hannah Kirtfield, Megan Rippy, Markie Case and Adrienne Byrd to provided leadership.

The Lady Jackets have four returning starters back to begin the season with Alissa Barlow, Rippy, Case and Kirtfield leading the charge

“We are very excited to get the basketball season started,” said Nations. “We are looking forward to a good season with this group of hard working and dedicated girls.”

The Lady Jackets finished 12-17 last year and were eliminated in the opening round of the Region 7-2A playoffs.

Nations lost only one starter to graduation last year: Kristen Jergins.

 Jackets are young 

Enterprise boys head coach John Knight will be relying on his teams athleticism and depth to have a successful season this year.

The Jackets have two starters returning in Dwayne Pendleton and Zach Hodges. Coach Knight lost four seniors to graduation last year: Dylan Furr, James King, Alex Stafford and Forrest Scott.

Enterprise hopes to improve on a 8-21 record from last year. The Jackets finished 0-10 in Region 6-2A action.

West Lincoln, Loyd Star, Bassfield, Amite County and East Marion are Enterprise’s region opponents.
