BOGUE CHITTO – The Stringer Red Devils defeated the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 34-7 Friday night in Region 4-1A action at Troy Smith Field.

Bogue Chitto celebrated senior night before the start of the game by recognizing all the senior football players and cheerleaders. The Bobcats wanted to close out the season by winning the first district game Friday night, but were not able to do so against Stringer.

The Red Devils came on to Troy Smith field and attacked the meat of BC’s defense with a strong rushing running attack and were successful in doing so. The Bobcats have a small class of seniors so most of their players are coming back next year.

The coaching staff is hoping to get better and stronger for next year. The game was mainly a ground attack by the Red Devils. Stringer came out of the gates and burst them wide open with a 20 unanswered points first quarter.

The Bobcats defense stepped it up and only allowed 7 points in the second quarter and 7 points in the third quarter. The Bobcats were able to get on the board late in the third quarter.

In the first quarter, Stringer headed right down the field on their first drive. They put together several big run to set up Qwavyious Gandy 7-yard touchdown run and good kick by Auston Myers. The Stringer defense stood strong and forced the Bobcats to punt the football at the 6:33 mark.

The Red Devils managed to add to their lead when their tailback found the end zone on a 37-yard run and Myers kick extra point. At the 5:18 mark the Stringer defense was strong once again with an interceptions to set their offense up in good field position.

The Devils would score one more time with Qwavyious Gandy on a 10-yard touchdown run and Myers kick was no good. At the end of the first quarter the Stringer Red Devils was up 20-0 on the Bobcats

In the second quarter, Stringer started off with a punt, but the Bobcats could not get anything going offensively. The Stringer defense forced the Bobcats to turn the football over on downs. Qwavyious Gandy would score again on a 30-yard run and Myers kick was good.

At the 3:59 mark the Stringer defense had another take away from the Bobcats. The Bobcats defense stood their grounds and forced Stringer to punt the football. The Red Devils got the football back when Will Knotts recovered a fumble at the 0:27 mark. At the half, Stringer lead 27-0 against the Bobcats

In the second half, the Bobcats received the kick off at the start of the second half. Stringer would force the Bobcats to turn the football over on downs at the 9:22 mark of the third quarter.

Gandy found the endzone on a 35-yard run with Myers kick was good. Late in the third quarter, BC’s Kobe Roberts put the Bobcats in good field position after a big kickoff return. Dee Dillon put the Bobcats on the board with 15-yard reception for the touchdown and Cameron Price nailed the extra point.

In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats punted the football to Stringer but the Bobcats defense forced the Red Devils to turn the football over on downs. At the 3:43 mark of the fourth, Kobe Roberts burst out of the line of scrimmage for 14 yards.

Offensively for the Bobcats, Kobe Roberts lead BC’s ground attack with five carries for 23 yards. Tucker Lambert had five carries for 19 yards.

Connor Douglas paced the Bobcats aerial attack by completing three of 13 attempts for 38 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown. Tucker Lambert caught a pass for 18 yards. Dee Dillon had two catches for 20 yards.

Defensively for the Bobcats, Will Fauver Matthew Black, and Bo Smithers lead the team with eight tackles apiece. Brandon McKenzie and Kody Halford contributed seven tackles each. Devin McEwen and Tre Nettles had six tackles apiece. Kobe Roberts had five tackles.
