The Brookhaven Piecemakers Quilter’s Guild hosted a book quilting challenge for their members. The women were told to choose a book, read it and make a wall hanging that reflects a theme in the book.

Jacque Coons won the competition with her quilt based on the book “Bridges of Madison County.” She skillfully quilted a picture of the bridge from the novel over a sparkling river.

“I love the book,” said Coons. “I had already read it, and it was the first thing that popped in my mind.”
