MEADVILLE – Franklin County Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs swept the West Lincoln Bears in Basketball action Tuesday night.

In the girls game, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Bears in close contest 53-44. In the boys contest, Franklin County surpassed West Lincoln 75-71.

West Lincoln resumes action Thursday as they prepare to welcome the Brookhaven Panthers to Jack Case Gymnasium for two games. The girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ game.

Franklin Co 53, W. Lincoln 44 

The Lady Bears (0-4) played the Lady Bulldogs a very close game including having a 7-4 first quarter lead. Franklin County was able fight back with a 15-11 run to take a one-point lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bears in the second half 34-27 to secured a 44-53 win.

“We played poorly in the fourth quarter and that was the difference of the game,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young.

Leading scorers for West Lincoln was Hanna Moak with 22 points; Alli Mullins contributed 7 points and Lillianne Rushing had 6 points and led on the boards with 8 rebounds..

Franklin County was paced by Jada Hunt with 16 points followed by Brianta O’Quinn with 12 points and Tadayla Hunt with 11 points.

Franklin Co. 75, W. Lincoln 71 

The Bears and Bulldogs fought on the hardwood but Franklin County was able to clinch a 71-75 win. West Lincoln had a one-point lead at halftime.

The second half saw the lead go back and forth between the Bears and Bulldogs before the FCHS claimed the lead late in the fourth quarter.

“We are not consistent on offense or defense at this time and we need to improve quickly,” said Young. “Franklin County did a great job in the fourth quarter and we did not respond with teamwork.”

West Lincoln was powered by Keshaun London’s 33 points including three 3 pointers. Javian Mackabee contributed 13 points and Jason Watts added 12.

Franklin County’s Kel Covington, Vincent Briggs, and Trianthony Hart each had 12 points. James Davis chipped in 10 points.
