BA Cougars knock off Trinity

NATCHEZ – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars captured a big 54-48 victory over the Natchez Trinity Episcopal Saints in MAIS Basketball action Saturday afternoon.
Brookhaven Academy begins district action Tuesday as they prepare to host the Adams County Christian School Rebels for six games, starting at 3 p.m.

The Cougars captured their fourth win of the season after overcoming a sluggish first half as BA held onto a 24-23 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, the Saints outscored the Cougars 13-7 to take a 36-31 lead after three quarters of action.
In the final quarter, the Cougars charge back with a 23-12 run to beat the Saints 54-48.
Senior forward Peyton Hood powered the Cougars with a team-high double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Caleb Brown contributed 14 points and had five assists. Austin Smith provided 13 points and three steals.
Tommy McCoy was the top scorer for the Saints with 21 points. David Jackson and Demond Fleming netted eight points apiece.
