The Brookhaven Academy Cougars suffered a tough 63-60 loss Tuesday night against the Adams County Christian School Rebels in MAIS Division 2AA basketball action at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

BA resumes division action Friday night as they welcome the Prentiss Christian Saints to play six games. Action begins at 3 p.m. for the junior high games. Varsity games are schedule to start at 6 p.m.

The Cougars and Rebels came out of the gates and provided a exciting defensive battle for their basketball fans.

In the opening quarter, BA took command with a 13-8 run. In the second quarter, the Rebels charged back with a 21-15 run to take a 29-28 lead into halftime.

In the second half, ACCS continued to keep the pressure on the Cougars as they extend their lead with a 18-11 run to carry a 47-39 lead into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, the Cougars roared back into the contest with a 21-15 run, but fell short at the end of taking the win.

Senior forward Peyton Hood had a dominating game for the Cougars (4-7, 0-1)as he pumped in a game-high 36 points. Caleb Brown and Austin Smith contributed 10 points each. Drake Flowers had four points.

Brandon Brooks was the top scorer for the Rebels with 14 points. Jay Fleming chipped in with 12 points and Lester Wells added 11 points.
