BA Lady Cougars defeat Lady Saints

The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars captured their first win of the season Friday night after knocking off the Prentiss Christian Lady Saints 58-19 in John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In late Saturday action, the Lady Cougars participated in the Coach vs. Cancer basketball event in Pearl to help raise money for this special event. Over 20 girls teams participated in the event. BA lost to Pass Christian 55-44 in the charity event.

“It is nice to have everyone back and healthy,” said BC coach Mack Gardner. “The girls did a great job playing hard, but we still have a lot to improve on to get better.”

Brookhaven Academy will be in action Friday as they prepare to host the Centreville Tigers. Game time begins at 5 p.m.

BA 58, Prentiss 19 

Hillary Wilson was the leading scorer for the Lady Cougars with 20 points. Leah Case chipped in with nine points. Mary Claire White contributed seven points and lead on the boards with four rebounds. Anna Kathryn Smith provided six points and had six steals. Anna Michael Smith, Eddie Riley and Alexis Byrd scored four points each. Bailey Stewart and Anna Covington had two points apiece.

Bayleigh Foster was the top scorer for the Lady Saints with 12 poinrs.

In junior varsity girls action,  the Lady Cougars defeated Prentiss Christian 41-23.

K.K. Jordon lead the Lady Cougars with 15 points. Madalyn Oglesby provided nine points. Macy Smith and Cassie White netted six points apiece. Summer Hill added two points and Natalie Rials had one point.

In junior high girls results,  Prentiss Christian edged BA 16-13.

Paige Shedd paced the Lady Cougars with six points. Maggie Sanford contributed four points and Olivia Lewis had three points.

Pass Christian 55, BA 44 

Hillary Wilson directed the Lady Cougars with 20 points and five rebounds. Mary Claire White chipped in with 12 points and lead on the boards with six rebounds. Sophie Wilson knocked down six points. Anna Kathryn Smith had three points and five steals, Anna Michael Smith added two points.
