Wesson’s Fall banquet recognizes athletes

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras honored their varsity athletes with a fall banquet last Saturday night to commemorate the football, softball and cheerleading squads.

Wesson head football coach Ronald Greer welcomed the large crowd to the banquet that was held at the Thames Center located on the Copiah-Lincoln Community College campus.

In football, Junior linebacker Kendrick Brown received the Most Valuable Player and Best Defensive Player awards. Tyler McLeod earned the Best Defensive Back and Enrique Smith received the Best Defensive Lineman award. On offense, Farrod Green captured the Best Offensive Player award. Tyler Christmas earned the Best Offensive Back/Receiver honors. Justin Boone claimed the Best Offensive Lineman award.

In slowpitch softball, senior shortstop Kayla Britt was selected as the Most Valuable Player and earned the Best Defensive Player award. Kaitlyn Smith received the Best Offensive Player honors.

In cheer, Anna Speights was recognized as the Cheerleader of the Year.

Seniors in each sport was recognized with awards for their effort. All team members received certificates for their participation.
