Funeral Services for Roy Edwin Oberschmidt of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Heucks Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.
Mr. Oberschmidt, 86, died Dec. 14, 2014, at the State Veterans Home in Collins. He was born on July 2, 1928, in Lincoln County to Roy Scott Oberschmidt and Anita Day Oberschmidt.
He was retired from the oil field industry as a directional engineer. He served the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Brookhaven.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, Ruby Dell Richardson Oberschmidt.
Survivors are his two sons, Dennis Rae Oberschmidt and wife, Kim, and David Shawn Oberschmidt and wife, Stacy; daughter, Mandy Chandler, all of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Casey Chandler, Aubrey Catherine Oberschmidt and Ruby Loren Oberschmidt; two brothers, Mike Oberschmidt and wife, Dojo, of King George, Virgina and Bill Oberschmidt and wife, Dot, of Brookhaven; and numerous nieces and nephews.
