Brookhaven Academy sweeps Glenbrook

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars swept the Glenbrook Titans in a pair of basketball games Tuesday night in the final day of their Holiday Classic at John R. Gray Gymnasium.
In the girls contest, the Lady Cougars (3-14) captured their third win of the season after defeating the Lady Titans 38-35.
In boys action, the Cougars (9-7) were victorious with a 52-35 win over Glenbrook.
Brookhaven Academy will take the next few day off to celebrate the New Year, before resuming action Saturday as they prepare to host the Trinity Saints for a pair of varsity games, starting at 1 p.m.
After the conclusion of the boys contest Saturday, BA will have a Celebration of the Hardwood to honor all of their All State Champions and Overall Champions. An alumni game will be played amongst men and women teams. The event starts at 5 p.m.

The Lady Cougars came out strong in the first quarter to take a 11-6 lead and managed to maintain the lead in the second quarter to take a 21-18 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lady Titans rallied back to outscored the Lady Cougars 14-5 to take over the lead at 32-26.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cougars manage to regain control with a 12-3 run to capture the victory.
Anna Kathryn Smith was the offensive leader for the Lady Cougars with 14 points. Hillary Wilson provided seven points. Mary Claire White and Anna Michael Smith contributed six points apiece. Anna Michael Smith and Hillary Wilson were the leaders on the boards with four rebounds each.
Carsin Spurlock directed the Lady Titans offense with 15 points.

In the boys contest, the Cougars roared to an early 15-6 lead in the first and continued to overpower the Titans in the second quarter to take a commanding 28-13 lead into halftime.
In the second half, BA continued their offensive fireworks as they extend their lead with a 11-9 run in the third quarter to cruise to a 52-35 win in the final quarter of action.
Senior Peyton Hood powered the Cougars with a game high 23 points and six rebounds. Austin Smith chipped in with 12 points and four rebounds. Caleb Brown added 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Drake Flowers helped on the boards with six rebounds and scored seven points.
Joseph Windham and Caden Copeland were the top scorers for the Titans with 10 points apiece.
