NATCHEZ – The Loyd Star Hornets were victorious in high school soccer action Tuesday night as they defeated the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave 3-2.

Loyd Star’s Blayne Brister scored a goal with an assist from Ryan Nevels. Parker Flowers and Cole Moak each scored a goal.

On defense, Lane Rogers and Brett Calcote had 10 clearances each. Dylan Smith and Cameron Smith each had eight clearances followed by 3 from Bryson Brister. Goalkeeper, Hayden Brownlee had seven saves.

In the girls contest, the Lady Hornets lost to Natchez Cathedral in a tight 2-1 game.

Lady Hornets’ Lesley Walker scored on a penalty kick. Shelby Richardson had seven clearances Starr Thomas with five and Mikayla Warren and Madison Jones with four each. Goalie Polly Patterson had seven saves.
