The Loyd Star kickers defeated the Crystal Springs Tigers in a pair of varsity soccer games Saturday afternoon at the Hansel King Sportsplex.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Hornets won 6-2. Mallory Holden led the offense with a hat trick plus one giving her four goals. Madisyn Brister assisted with one of her goals. Midfielders Madison Jones and Lesley Walker each scored a goal.

On defense, Terra Lipps had three clearances followed by Shelby Richardson with two and Mikayla Warren with one.

In boys’ action, the Loyd Star Hornets beat Crystal Springs 5-3 in overtime. Jordan Michelle and Cole Moak scored two goals each. Connor Crosby scored one goal.

On defense, Lane Rogers had 14 clearances, Brett Calcote had 13, Dylan Smith had 11 and Cameron Smith had 8, Mason Falvey with 2 and Bailey Smith with 1. Goalie Hayden Brownlee had two saves.
