Anthony Jones will represent Wesson on the MAC All-Star Team

Junior forward Anthony Jones will be representing the Wesson Attendance Center Cobras on the boys’ MAC/Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center All-Star Classic in Clinton at the at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College.

The boys’ game will start approximately at 7:30 p.m., after the girls’ All-Star game at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27.

Anthony Jones, 16, is currently leading his team in scoring with 20.9 points, while collecting 8.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.5 assists per game in his junior year for Wesson. The Cobras are currently 16-3 on the season with a 3-0 record in Region 7-3A action.

“I am extremely proud of AJ for this accomplishment,” said Wesson coach Rusty Newman. “He is a great player and a great young man on and off the court.

“A.J. consistently works on his game to get better,” continued Newman. “He has been a major contributor to our team’s success this season. I am excited about this opportunity he has and I look forward to seeing him compete in the game.”

Joining Jones on this year South All-Star squad are Darrian Wilson of Brookhaven, Devon Benson of Laurel, DeAnthony Bowie of West Harrison, Antonio Cowart of McComb, Eddie Galloway Jr. of Provine, Darius Hicks of Quitman, Evan Howard of D’Iberville, KaDerrion Mason of McComb, Enriques Milton of Provine, Jarius Smith of Raymond and Stacee St. Julian of Saint Martin. The South Boys coaches are Darrin Chancellor of Florence and Otis Gaines II of Provine.

A three-point shootout, free throw shooting and a slam-dunk contest will start the festivities prior to the All-Star Games.
