Ole Brook dominates PRC

CARRIERE – The Brookhaven Panthers and Lady Panthers feasted on the Pearl River Central Blue Devils Friday night to collect a pair of Region 6-5A wins.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Panthers captured their fourth win of the season with a 52-37 triumph over the Lady Blue Devils. For further information on the girls’ contest please check Tuesday edition for coverage as it was unavailable at press time for Sunday.

In the boys’ contest, the Panthers destroyed the Blue Devils in route to a 90-32 win.

Brookhaven returns home to host the Wingfield Falcons for senior night in another big region match up. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the guys at 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers’ (20-4, 5-0) high powered offense and defense quickly overwhelmed and mauled the Blue Devils in the first half of action as Ole Brook took a commanding 48-15 lead into halftime.

Brookhaven continued to overpower Pearl River Central in the third quarter with a 31-10 trouncing to increase their lead to 79-25 before heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Ole Brook turned off the scoring attack but still outscored the Blue Devils 11-7 to claim the win.

Tyriq Reese powered the Panthers scoring attack with 18 points and eight rebounds. Damarius Brooks continued the onslaught with 14 points. Darrian Wilson and Marte Jones chipped in with nine points each. Garrick Smith was the leader on the boards with 11 rebounds and scored six points. Shon Blackwell and Tavis Moore netted seven points each. Moore also grabbed six rebounds.
