BA Lady Cougars eliminate Park Place Christian

The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars captured a big 55-28 win over Park Place Christian in South AA State Tournament action Tuesday night at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In other tournament action, the Bowling Green Lady Bucs defeated Hartfield Academy 58-17.

In boys action, Bowling Green crushed Wayne Academy 66-36 and Central Hinds clobbers Hartfield Academy 59-39.

Tournament action continues today starting at 4 p.m., the Brookhaven Academy Cougars will also be in action tonight as they take on Simpson Academy at 7:45 p.m.

BA 55, Park Place 28 

The Lady Cougars of Brookhaven Academy came out and quickly dominated Park Place Christian in the first half of action as they took a commanding 35-11 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, BA continued to overwhelm Park Place with a 16-9 run to secure a 51-20 lead before heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Park Place outscored BA 8-4 but could not overcome the Lady Cougars large lead.

Hillary Wilson powered the Lady Cougars with 24 points and four rebounds. Alexis Byrd contributed 12 points and had four rebounds. Anna Kathryn Smith provided 10 points, four rebounds and five steals. Bailey Stewart was the leader on the boards with five rebounds.

Karley Bailey paced Park Place Christian’s offense with eight points.
