Funeral Services for Charles Roderick Owens Sr. of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Heucks Retreat Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services. He will lie in state from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Mr. Owens, 66, died Feb. 9, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on June 24, 1948, to Thad Olian Owens Sr. and Hilda Mae Smith Owens.

He worked for Sanderson Farms and was a member of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and former minister of music. He was also a member of Heucks Retreat Quartet.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife of 24 years, Linda LeJeune Owens.

Survivors are his wife of 19 years, Millie Greer Owens; son, Charles “Chuck” R. Owens Jr. and wife, Courtney; daughters, Allison Owens Wallace and husband, Blake, Gina Jones and husband, Greg, Jennifer Thornton and husband, Stan; brothers, Thad Owens Jr. and wife, Pat, Tommy Owens and wife, Jackie; sisters, Ginny Owens, Rosemary Bishop and husband, Tillmon; 11 grandchildren, Trace, Turner and Trent Owens, Tucker, Katherine, Piker and John Patrick Wallace, Lauren and Doug Habig, Anna Katharine and Grant Thornton, sister-in-law, Aneita McClendon and husband, Mac; and mother-in-law, Harriet Greer. 

Memorials can be made to the Heucks Retreat Baptist Church Renovation Fund.
