Delgado sweeps Co-Lin in New Orleans

WESSON – The Delgado Dolphins were victors on Tuesday night in New Orleans as they took both games of a doubleheader from Copiah-Lincoln, winning game one 4-3 and game two 14-0.

Delgado 4, Co-Lin 3 

The Wolfpack took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning on an Adrian Brown triple. Brown, who was also named state player of the week on Tuesday, finished 1-of-3 and was one of only four Wolves to get a hit. Jeremy Moore, Stevie Hubbard, and Tanner Parvin all singled for Co-Lin. Freshman Jordan Antley also added a RBI for Co-Lin. Antley, Kewuan May, and Wesley Watts all scored a run for the Wolfpack.

Delgado tied the game on a triple by Kyle Bracey and won the game on a walk-off single by Dylan Weston. Bracey had previously hit a homerun in the second inning.

Sophomore Shane Brown got the start and gave up seven hits and two runs in 4.0 innings of work. Freshman Austin Irby pitched 2.0 strong innings of relief, striking out three and giving up just one hit. Freshman side arm pitcher Tanner Jones took the loss after giving up two unearned runs on two hits.

Delgado 14, Co-Lin 0 (5 Innings) 

Delgado carried over their momentum into game two as they run-ruled the Wolfpack after five innings. The Dolphins finished with nine hits and saw Co-Lin commit four errors. Co-Lin finished with two hits, doubles by Kewaun May and Logan Smith.

Co-Lin used five pitchers with freshman Jackson Cole taking the loss. Cole surrendered eight unearned runs on five hits and struck out five. Freshmen Jordan Antley, Austin Douglas, Lee Smith, and Mile Thomas all saw time on the mound out of the bullpen.

Co-Lin will host Delgado on Feb. 28 in Wesson. The Wolves next play on Saturday, Feb. 14 when they host Kaskaskia College (IL.) for a 2 p.m. first pitch of the doubleheader.
