West Lincoln falls twice in consolation round

LIBERTY- The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears suffered two losses in the consolation games of the Region 7-2A Tournament Friday afternoon.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Bears fell to the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets 46-39.
In boys’ action, the Bears lost to the Amite County Trojans 73-58.
West Lincoln will be in action Monday and Tuesday as they prepare to travel for the opening round of the Class 2A State Playoffs.
The Lady Bears will travel to Puckett on Monday for the first round of the south state tournament. The Bears will travel to Leake County on Tuesday for the first round of the 2A South State Tournament. Both games are schedule to begin at 7 p.m.
Bassfield 46, West Lincoln 39
the West Lincoln lady Bears and the Bassfield lady Yellowjackets met in the consolation game of the district 7-2A tournament. Bassfield took the early lead before West Lincoln hit several three pointers to gain the lead after the first quarter 16-11. The Lady Bears maintained the lead in the second quarter closing out the first half 26-19.
In the second half, turnovers plaques the Lady Bears in the third quarter and Bassfield was able to regain the lead at the close of the third period 32-29. The Lady Yellowjackets out scored the Lady Bears in the final quarter 14-10 to maintain the lead and to win the game 46-39.
Hanna Moak led the Lady Bears in scoring with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Alli Mullins contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
Amite Co. 73, West Lincoln 58
The West Lincoln Bears faced the host Amite County Trojans in the consolation game in the boys’ district 7-2A bracket. West Lincoln was able to take the lead after the first quarter 16-14. Amite County outscored West Lincoln 22-11 in the second quarter to take a nine-point lead at halftime 36-27.
In the second half, the Trojans continued to expand their lead after halftime and closed the third quarter with a 54-38 lead. West Lincoln managed to narrow the lead in the fourth quarter but Amite County maintained the lead and claimed the win at 73-58.
Ronnie Edwards led the Bears with 24 points. Ke-Shaun London added 13 points and 12 rebounds. Javian Mackabee chipped in 8 points and Lofton Sills had 6 points.
