Bobcats edge Enterprise, Jackets blank West Lincoln

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets secured a split decision in last Saturday’s Lincoln County Invitational Classic.
Enterprise lost to the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 12-11 in the first game, but won the late nightcap over West Lincoln 13-0.
The Jackets (3-2) are schedule to be in action today as they prepare to participate in Lawrence County’s Spring Break Tournament. Enterprise will face the Brookhaven Panthers at 4:30 p.m. at Monticello.
Bogue Chitto 12, Enterprise 11
The Bobcats and the Jackets started Saturday’s Lincoln County Invitational with a explosive contest as both teams score one run apiece in the first inning.
Bogue Chitto managed to increase their lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning, before Enterprise answered with a five run blast in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.
The Bobcats managed to answer back in the top of the fifth with a seven run explosion to reclaimed the lead at 11-6.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Enterprise rallied back with a four run surge, but trailed the Bobcats 11-10. Both schools scored one run each in the sixth inning, but BC held on for the win.
With a combine effort on the mound from Nick Parker (2K, 0BB), Bo Smithers (1K, 3BB), Brooks Ingle (0K, 1BB) and Tanner Gunther (1K, 4BB). Bogue Chitto collects the win.
Jeffery Daniels absorbed the setback on the mound for the Jackets with eight strikeouts and four walks. Reese Brocato (0K, 3BB) also pitched in relief.
Rudy Brumfield paced the Bobcats at the plate with a double and two singles. Steven Ginn and Joey Elliot provided a pair of singles. Nick Parker ripped a double. Hitting safely were Cameron Price, Tucker Smith, Taylor McKenzie and Tanner Gunther.
Layne Brown was the top hitter at the plate for Enterprise with a triple and three singles. Tanner Waldrop contributed two doubles and a single. Brady Watts provided a double and a single. Brocato had two singles. Hunter Richardson, Austin Carter and Landon Gartman hit safely.
Enterprise 13, West Lincoln 0
The Jackets were victorious in a very late nightcap as they blanked the West Lincoln Bears 13-0 in four innings of action.
Josh Hardin was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and two walks.
Daniel Speaks suffered the setback for the Bears on the mound.
Hunter Richardson powered the Jackets offensive attack with a double and a single. Reese Brocato, Marvin Butler and Hardin hit safely.
Bryce Temple recorded the only hit for West Lincoln, which was a single.
“We played really well in all phrase of the game,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “Josh Hardin pitched a great game. It really helps when you have a guy that can fill it up, which allows your defense to work. We still have room for improvement, but happy to get the win. Now, we must refocus and get ready for the next game.”
