Lady Panthers clobber Franklin County

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers defeated the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 10-3 in Monday night fastpitch softball action at the Ole Brook softball complex.
The Lady Panthers (6-0) continue action today as they prepare to host the Terry Bulldogs. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Ole Brook Lady Panthers came out and quickly took charge of the contest in the bottom of the first inning as they pushed across four runs to take a early 4-0 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs bounced back in the top of the second inning and scored only one run, but failed to push across more runs.
Brookhaven’s offense continued to overpower Franklin County in the third, fourth and fifth inning as the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Bulldogs 6-0 to increase their lead to 10-1 after five innings of action.
Franklin County managed to add two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, but could not overcome Ole Brook’s large lead as the Lady Panthers secured the win.
Katherine Shell was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Emily Smith suffered the setback for the Lady Bulldogs with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Julianna Porter was the top hitter for the Lady Panthers with three singles. Katie Grace Culpepper contributed a triple and a single. Haley Speaks provided a double and a single. Shaniya Jackson had a single.
Emilee Wallace and Shelby Case paced the Lady Bulldogs’ offense with a single each.
