Lady Bears thumps Enterprise

The West Lincoln Lady Bears ended a two game losing streak Thursday night after defeating their Lincoln County/Region 7-2A rivals, the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets, 11-3 in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Bears (2-3, 1-1) and the Lady Jackets (2-4, 2-1) will be in action tomorrow as they participate in the Ole Brook softball tournament at Hansel King Softball Complex.

West Lincoln will battle the Lawrence County Lady Cougars at 9 a.m., the Warren Central Lady Vikings at 10:40 a.m. and the Pearl Lady Pirates at 2 p.m.

Enterprise will face the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs at 9 a.m., the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave at 12:30 p.m. and the Hattiesburg Lady Tigers at 3:40 p.m.

West Lincoln 11, Enterprise 3 

The Lady Bears came out strong and quickly overpowered the Lady Yellow Jackets in the first four innings of action to claim a 7-0 lead.

Enterprise managed to get on the scoreboard late in the bottom of the sixth inning as they pushed one run across the plate. West Lincoln would increase their lead in the top of the seventh inning with a four run blast to secure a 11-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Jackets would put together a late rally as they scored two runs, but failed to continue their comeback as the Lady Bears collected the final out.

Malori Hall was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with five strikeouts and one walk. Micah Redd (0K, 1BB) pitched the final inning to collect the save.

Haley Nations suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with four strikeouts and three walks. Carlee Nation (2K, 3BB) also saw some action on the mound in relief.

Millane Lewis powered the Lady Bears’ offensive attack with a home run, a double and a single. Addie Spring contributed two singles. Layton Sills provided a triple. Hitting safely were Micah Redd, Malori Hall, Makennah Redd, Peyton White and Hanna Moak.

Carly Polk was the top hitter for the Lady Jackets with two singles. Haley Nations had a triple. Jana Nations, Kinsey Dahlin and Karlee Burgess hit safely.
