LCHS Lady Cougars capture three wins

The Lawrence County Lady Cougars wins three games in Saturday’s Ole Brook softball tournament at the Hansel King Complex.
The Lady Cougars defeated the West Lincoln Lady Bears 6-3 in the opener, knocked off the Pearl Lady Pirates 4-1 and shutout the Warren Central Lady Vikings 5-0 in the finale.
The Lady Cougars (11-2, 1-1) continues action Tuesday as they host the Purvis Lady Tornadoes for a big Region 7-4A test. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
Lawrence Co. 6, West Lincoln 3
Elizabeth Smith pitched the win for LCHS in the first game with two strikeouts and one walk.
Malori Hall suffered the setback pitching for West Lincoln with four strikeouts and four walks.
Tiera Collins sparked the Lady Cougars at the plate with a home run. Josey Nations fueled the flames with a double and a single. Alexsundria Thomas provided two singles. Hitting safely were Callie Fortenberry and Jamie Martin.
Layton Sill was the top hitter for the Lady Bears at the plate with a double and a single. Malori Hall, Addie Spring and Micah Redd contributed two singles apiece. Hanna Moak and Millane Lewis hit safely.
Lawrence Co. 4, Pearl 1
Jordan pitched the win for Lawrence County in the second game of the evening earning nine strikeouts and gave up two walks.
Maddux Kirkland directed the Lady Cougars offense with two singles. Tiera Collins, Madison Hyde, Alexsundria Thomas and Jamie Martin hit safely.
Lawrence Co. 5, Warren Central 0
Elizabeth Smith captured her second win of the evening in the finale for Lawrence County against Warren Central.
Callie Fortenberry paced the Lady Cougars’ offense with two singles. Sydney Pevey, Thomas and Martin hit a single each.
