Enterprise surpass Bassfield

BASSFIELD – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets secured a 8-6 victory over the Bassfield Yellowjackets Tuesday night to remain undefeated in the Region 7-2A baseball action.
“This was a big hard fought win for us,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “Bassfield played extremely well. Things just didn’t go our way at times, but I am proud of the way stayed composed and refused to go down. We still have a lot of work to do before Friday.”
The Jackets (6-5, 3-0) will be looking for the series sweep Friday night as they prepare to host Bassfield for a junior varsity and varsity contest starting at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Enterprise 8, Bassfield 6
In a battle of Yellowjackets, Enterprise and Bassfield fought in a close contest as the Lincoln County based Jackets secured a 2-1 lead after three innings of action.
Enterprise continued to increase their lead in the top of the fourth inning as they added three more runs.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bassfield battle back to cut into Enterprise’s lead with a two-run surge as the Jackets of Lincoln County led 5-3 after five innings of action.
In the top of the sixth and the bottom of the seven innings, both teams scored three runs apiece as Enterprise managed to escape Bassfield with an 8-6 win.
Landon Gartman was the winning pitcher for Enterprise with 13 strikeouts and seven walks.
Tarius Reese suffered the loss on the mound for Bassfield with seven strikeouts and nine walks.
Hunter Richardson paced Enterprise’s offense with a double and a single. Hitting safely were Brady Watts, Josh Hardin, Marvin Butler, Layne Brown and Reese Brocato.
Ton Thompson was the top hitter for Bassfield with a double and two singles. Cason Sims and Tarius Reese hit a single apiece.
