Lady Cougars fall to Purvis

MONTICELLO – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars suffered a tough 7-5 loss against the Purvis Lady Tornadoes in Region 7-4A fastpitch softball action Tuesday night.
The Lady Cougars (11-3, 1-2) will be in action today as they host the Columbia Lady Wildcats for a big district test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Cougars of Monticello came out strong in the first four innings of action as Lawrence County managed to secure a 2-1 lead over the Lady Tornadoes.
In the last three innings of action, Purvis rallied back to outscore Lawrence County 6-3 to steal the win.
Elizabeth Smith suffered the setback for the Lady Cougars in the pitching circle with one strikeout and three walks.
Madison Hyde was the top hitter at the plate for Lawrence County with three singles. Lexie Johnson contributed two singles. Tiera Collins and Elizabeth Smith ripped a double apiece. Alexsundria Thomas provided a triple. Hitting safely were Jamie Martin and Josey Nations.
