Enterprise Lady Jackets crush Bassfield

BASSFIELD – The Enterprise Lady Jackets dominated the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets Thursday night to clinch a 17-1 victory in Region 7-2A fastpitch softball action.

“It was good to get another district win,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke.

The Lady Jackets (4-6, 3-2) will be in action tonight as they travel to Natchez to battle the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Enterprise 17, Bassfield 1

The Lady Jackets of Enterprise battled through sloppy weather conditions to crush the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets in three innings of action.

Enterprise scored 16 runs in the top of the first inning and added another run in the top of the second inning. Bassfield scored their only run in the bottom of the second inning.

Karlee Beth Nations was the winning pitcher for Enterprise with nine strikeouts and two walks. Nations did not give up a hit to Bassfield.

Erica Booth absorbed the loss in the pitching circle for Bassfield with no strikeouts and 12 walks.

The Lincoln County-based Lady Jackets managed to capitalize on the walks and a few Bassfield errors to clinch the win on just one hit, which was a single by Carly Polk.

In junior varsity action,  Enterprise blanked Bassfield 7-0.

Lynsey Nations tossed the win for the Lincoln County-based Lady Jackets with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Kristen Walker and Belle Porter were the top hitters at the plate for Enterprise with a single apiece.
