Lady Bears win three region games

BASSFIELD – The West Lincoln Lady Bears traveled to Bassfield and swept the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets in a pair of varsity doubleheader games in Region 7-2A softball action Tuesday.

West Lincoln thumped Bassfield 11-1 in the first game, followed by a 12-0 shutout win in game two.

In last Monday’s contest, the Lady Bears defeated the East Marion Lady Eagles 14-0 at Columbia.

The Lady Bears (8-6, 5-1) continued action today as they travel up Jackson-Liberty to Loyd Star to take on the Loyd Star Lady Hornets for a huge district test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

West Lincoln 11, Bassfield 1 

The Lady Bears started off the first game strong as they grabbed an early lead at 2-0. In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Yellowjackets would score their only run before West Lincoln exploded with a 9-0 run in the four innings of action to win the game.

Malori Hall was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Makennah powered the West Lincoln’s offense with an inside the park home run. Brianna Fauver contributed a double and a single. Hitting safely were Micah Redd, Addie Spring, Layton Sills, Millane Lewis, Malori Hall and Peyton White.

West Lincoln 12, Bassfield 0 

In the second game, the Lady Bears continued to dominate the Lady Yellowjackets at the plate as West Lincoln scored three runs each in the first four innings to win the game in five innings.

Micah Redd tossed the win for West Lincoln with six strikeouts and two walks. Megan Gerald (1K, 0BB) also saw some action in relief.

Malori Hall sparked the Lady Bears at the plate with an inside the park home run. Millane Lewis provided a double and a single. Micah Redd had two singles. Brianna Fauver, Addie Springs, Layton Sills and Makennah Redd hit safely.

West Lincoln 14, East Marion 0 

The Lady Bears quickly overpowered the Lady Eagles in Monday night action in Columbia to claim the win in five innings of action.

Micah Redd tossed the victory for the Lady Bears with three strikeouts and two walks.

Makennah Redd and Anna Brook Davis paced the West Lincoln’s offense with three singles apiece. Micah Redd ripped a double and a single. Layton Sills had a double. Hitting safely were Millane Lewis, McKenzie Pyles, Ashley Thomas and Brianna Fauver.

In JV action, West Lincoln defeated East Marion 8-2.

Pyles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with one strikeout and no walks.

Sara Jane Doty led the Lady Bears at the plate with a double. Madelynn Thornton, Jana Case and Ashley Thomas hit a single each.
