Lady Cougars dominate Tylertown

MONTCELLO – the Lawrence County Lady Cougars jumped out to an early lead and captured a 13-1 victory over the Tylertown Lady Chiefs Friday night in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Cougars (14-5, 2-3) will continue action Monday as they travel to Bogue Chitto to take the BC Lady Cats. Junior varsity action is set to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Seven runs in the first two innings of work allowed the Lady Cougars to cruise past the Lady Chiefs in four innings of action.

In the third and fourth inning, the Lady Cougars outscored Tylertown 6-1 to win the contest.

Elizabeth Smith got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Smith struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits. Abbey Turnage pitched the fourth inning in relief with no strikeouts and no walks.

Madison Hyde powered the Lawrence County’s offense with two triple and a single. Jamie Martin contributed a triple and two singles. Maddux Kirkland provided two singles. Alexsundria Thomas and Tiera Collins had a triple each. Hitting safely were Lexie Johnson, Elizabeth Smith and Josey Nations.
