Puckett howls over Lady Cobras

WESSON- The Wesson Lady Cobras hosted the Puckett Lady Wolves Tuesday night in fastpitch softball action and suffered a tough 16-6 loss.

Wesson will travel to Meadville Thursday night to face the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs. The JV game time starts at 5 p.m. and Varsity game begins at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Cobras were defeated by the Lady Wolves 16-6.

Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Amber Brinson, had four strikeouts and four walks. The Lady Cobras’ top hitter was Harmoni Ashley who hit a three RBI home run. Amber Brinson and Catherine Wilson both got two singles each.

Top fielders of the night were Brooke Jones with four assists at third base and Harmoni Ashley with three outs at first base.

Puckett pitcher, Mattie Hammock, had three strikeouts and two walks. Puckett were some heavy hitters at bat with Mollie Welch hitting four singles and Mary Jo Benton with two doubles and a single. Welch was also top fielder for the Lady Wolves with six outs at first base.

 In junior varsity action,  The Lady Cobras beat the Lady Wolves 8-2 Tuesday afternoon.

Top hitter for Wesson was Riley Smith with a two RBI double and a single. Wesson’s Shelbi Maxwell was top defender with three outs and two assists at shortstop.
