Lady Cougars clobbers McComb

MCCOMB – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars are currently riding a three game winning streak after clobbering the McComb Lady Tigers 18-0 Tuesday night in Region 7-4A softball action.
The Lady Cougars (13-5, 3-3) are schedule to be in action Friday, if weather permits, to take on the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats in Loyd Star Invitational Softball Tournament, beginning at 4 p.m. Lawrence County will also play Saturday at Loyd Star against Natchez Cathedral at 11:45 and Brookhaven at 3:15 p.m.

The Lady Cougars wasted no time knocking off the McComb Lady Tigers to secure the win in three innings of action.
Lawrence County came out strong to claim a early 8-0 lead in the first inning and continued to add to their lead with a seven run surge in the top of the second inning, before ending the contest in the third inning with three runs.
Jordan Harp was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cougars with three strikeouts and one walk. Elizabeth Smith (3K, 0BB) also saw action in relief.
Callie Fortenberry was the offensive leader at the plate for Lawrence County with three singles. Maddux Kirkland provided two singles. Josey Nations and Lexie Johnson ripped a double each. Hitting safely were Jamie Martin, Elizabeth Smith and Madison Hyde.
